Amir El Etr started doing photography as a hobby more than twenty-five years ago. It rapidly became his passion when he semi-retired in 2005.
Since then, he has continually improved his technique as well as his post-processing skills. Although he doesn’t do photography for commercial purposes, he has accepted many projects and events on a personal basis. He has volunteered to cover many events, e.g. Enfants-Retour Events, Bloomsday, FolkFest on the Canal, Sylviera Companie de Dance, Games of Hope and Mat TV coverage. As a member of the Montreal Camera Club since 2013, he has participated in many competitions in which he has received many ribbons and a few Honourable Mentions. He acquired many trophies and awards and the Expert Pictorialist Merit Award in the last couple of years. He also won the 2015 “Coup de Coeur du Public” in the SPPQ Défi Interclub (Lozeau). Amir is also a member of “Les Amis du Parc des Rapides” and of “Club Photo Verdun.” His favourite photographic subject matter includes portraits, landscapes, street, night shots and light painting, with a few birds thrown in here and there. Amir is a passionate and insatiable world traveler, visiting 30 countries, and always thrilled to meet new people and experience other cultures. He is particularly fascinated by Italy, having returned there to photograph many times. He will present slideshows on its many different and diverse regions. |
