Description of Outing:  This is not the best time of the year for birds, but some will still be around before they take off for fall migration, but let’s not forget about the deer, the mink, the hermine, the insects and butterflies, the flowers and all other amazing little creatures!

NOTE: If this is too early, get there when you can and call Ilana (514-234-6366) and she will tell you where the group is, but don’t arrive later than 8:30 am as it will start to get really busy due to the Écomarché  (https://www.ilesaintbernard.com/ecomarche_landing)

Suggestions on what to bring:

• Long Lens (at least 300mm-400mm, IF YOU CAN)
• Macro Lens
• Rubber boots
• Water
• Snack/Lunch if you want to stay longer
• Memory Cards for Camera
• Battery/extra batteries for camera
  (charge the night before)
• Hat

Clothing:  Comfortable, pants and tuck your pants into your socks
Dress in earth tones, nothing too bright.

Very Important Notes:

• It is SO IMPORTANT/CRUCIAL to stay on the marked trails so as not to stress out the birds/animals. Ile St Bernard/Refuge Marguerite d’Youville are very serious about enforcing this rule.

 

• It turns out that the Écomarché de l’Ile will be starting at 10 a.m. that weekend.  We will be fine in the refuge, it shouldn’t disturb the animals, and we will be getting there early enough for parking. But do expect A LOT of people when we leave.

• We can browse some lovely artisans, farmers markets, jewelry, clothing, accessories on our way out if we are interested. This is going to be fun!!!

FROM MONTRÉAL:  Pont Mercier (direction Châteauguay) until the entrance to the City of Châteauguay. Continue on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard until you reach René-Lévesque Boulevard (intersection of Autoroute 30). Turn right on René-Lévesque Boulevard (132 West) and continue.  Turn right at the fourth light, onto chemin Saint-Bernard then follow directions for Refuge Faunique Marguerite-D’Youville.
